  • Upfront Assessment of Need (UAN) Literacy and Numeracy Compliance Check Fact Sheet

Why do we conduct UAN Literacy and Numeracy compliance checks?

To make sure all students have their Literacy and Numeracy needs assessed and are provided with early access to the foundation skills supports they need to be successful.

What data do we use?

How do we complete the check?

The student's name and date of birth in their training account is matched to the name and date of birth used in literacy and numeracy data, CSPA interpretation reports (if required) and VETRO referral forms (if required). If we cannot find a direct match, we review the data to identify any approximate matches.

A training account will be assessed as compliant if:

  • It can be matched to the correct literacy and numeracy assessment.
  • It can be matched to a CSPA interpretation report, if required.
  • It can be matched to a completed VETRO referral form, if required.
  • The literacy and numeracy assessment was completed before training account creation or in line with the timelines for contracts of training.

Common non-compliances

  • A CSPA interpretation is not completed when it is needed.
  • Inconsistent data entry of student name and/or date of birth can prevent matching training account to UAN data.
  • VETRO referral forms are not finalised (Part C completed) before a training is created, or in line with UAN timeframes for contracts of training.
  • Literacy and Numeracy assessments are not completed before a training account is created or in line with UAN timeframes for contract of training.
