What is Fee-Free TAFE and vocational education?
Fee-Free TAFE and vocational education is a joint partnership between the Australian and South Australian Governments to support accessible training for more South Australians.
It represents a significant investment in training delivery in South Australia and will support industries facing skills shortages, growth industries and emerging sectors. It will create more opportunities for South Australians to access new and high-level skills in these priority areas.
A further 15,000 places available
The success of the first release of 12,500 Fee-Free TAFE and vocational education places in early 2023 is being followed by a further commitment of 15,000 including 1,500 places for First Nations students places over 3 years from the start of 2024.
What is available through Fee-Free TAFE?
Fee-Free TAFE and vocational education places will focus on priority areas including:
- Care industries such as aged and disability care, health care and childcare
- Technology and digital
- Hospitality and tourism
- Construction
- Agriculture
- Defence and manufacturing
- Education
The Fee-Free TAFE and vocational education course list is now available.
Fee-Free training places are a boost to already available government subsidised training courses.
Who will be given priority for Fee-Free TAFE and vocational education in 2024?
The right training has never been more important and now it’s even more accessible and affordable through Fee-Free TAFE and vocational education.
Particular focus will be placed on supporting:
- First Nations Australians
- young people (17-24)
- people out of work or receiving income support
- unpaid carers
- women undertaking study in non-traditional fields
- people with disability
- certain categories of visa holders.
