STL Release Notes

Current updates to the Subsidised Training list (STL)

Subsidised Training List 9.1 (STL 9.1)

Effective 2 January 2024

The STL communicates the vocational education and training (VET) courses that attract public subsidy.

STL 9.1 reflects qualifications and skill sets available through the Subsidised Traineeship and Apprenticeship List (STAL), the Training Priority List (TPL) and the VET for School Students (VSS) List.

Subsidised Traineeship and Apprenticeship List (STAL) - displays courses the Department will subsidise through training contracts.

Training Priority List (TPL) - displays courses the Department will fund through non-training contract arrangements.

VET for School Students (VSS)

From 4 January 2022, the courses approved for access by school enrolled students will be identified on the VET for School Students List (VSS). Access to approved courses is in accordance with the new funding guidelines and through the new VET Readiness Orientation (VETRO) process outlined on the Upfront Assessment of Need webpage.

VET for School Students List (VSSL) – displays courses the Department will subsidise as a part of the VET for School Students initiative.

Local Skill Sets

Local skill sets have been introduced to support additional training opportunities for young people and job seekers.

Managed Courses

From 1 July 2021, Quota conditions will be removed from the STL, and replaced with 'managed courses'. Courses with this condition have a set number of places that can be created per provider, which can be drawn down in the same way as general courses. No additional application or approval processes are required to deliver courses with this condition.

Providers will be responsible for monitoring the number of training accounts they have created and adhering to the limits specified.

Should providers reach the limit set for a course, applications may be made for a review.
