You are invited to register for one or more of the topics if you:
- Work for an organisation with a Funded Activities Agreement (FAA) with the South Australian Government, or are TAFE SA, AND
- Deliver, or support the delivery, of publicly subsidised vocational education and training (VET) and/or adult community education (ACE) in South Australia.

Overview
This training is not simply a session on cultural awareness—it is the foundational stage of a culturally grounded, pedagogically rigorous, and deeply relational learning journey designed to transform the way you understand, engage with, and support Aboriginal learners.
Through this training you will:
- Begin to understand Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives on history, culture, and society
- Recognise the impact of colonisation on learning, wellbeing, and trust in institutions.
- Begin identifying your own cultural lens, point of view and unconscious bias
- Gain language and confidence to engage respectfully with Aboriginal learners
- Be introduced to the concepts of Doing and Being to support the next steps in your Aboriginal cultural capability learning journey.
Following the training, you’ll be invited to join a yarning circle to share how your practice has been changed, and ideas for the future.

Overview
This is the continuation of the popular introductory workshops delivered by Alice Kleinig in 2024, with a focus on specific learning difficulties (SLDs), such as dyslexia, dysgraphia and dyscalculia, which impact on how a person learns in a specific learning area such as reading, writing or maths.
Through this workshop you will:
- Develop your understanding of learning difficulties and disabilities, and the Disability Discrimination Act
- Learn about different strategies for supporting learning, organisation and time management of learners with SLDs, and positive communication
- Identify suitable adjustments and accommodations for assessment
- Be introduced to technologies to support student success.

Overview
This workshop draws upon Connect.Ed’s multidisciplinary team to help you understand and engage with adult learners with ADHD. ADHD is a neurodevelopment condition in which individuals experience differences in attention, focus and impulse control, which influence how they manage tasks, organise information and regulate emotions.
Through this workshop, you will:
- Increase your understanding of the varied presentation of ADHD in adults.
- Practice neuro-affirming and strengths-based language.
- Learn about strategies to support executive functioning, attention, working memory, and regulation.
- Identify practical classroom adaptations to improve engagement, reduce overwhelm, and support learner success.

Overview
Trauma-informed practice is a way of teaching that recognises how trauma can change the way people behave and learn, and is grounded in safety, trust, having choices, working together and building confidence. This training draws on current neuroscience and clinical insights, and practical strengths-based strategies for educators.
Through this workshop, you will:
- Increase your understanding of the different types of trauma and how it can impact on behaviour, engagement and learning
- Learn about trauma-informed principles and how they apply in adult learning
- Identify practical teaching strategies that foster psychological safety, predictability and trust
- Develop your ability to create inclusive classroom environments that acknowledge adversity without pathologizing behaviour
- Develop strategies for maintaining your own wellbeing while working with trauma-affected learners.

This workshop focuses on practical, evidence-informed techniques that support educators to understand escalation and manage challenging behaviours by building connection, emotional safety and co-regulation.
Through this workshop you will:
- Identify early signs of escalation and potential triggers
- Understand the impact of trauma, stress and neurodiversity on behaviour
- Practice respectful and relational de-escalation techniques that maintain the safety of everyone, and plan for proactive supports.

Overview
Most people are familiar with the idea of physical first aid courses that teach the skills and knowledge required to recognise and respond to life-threatening emergencies and provide first aid response across a range of different situations. Mental Health First Aid training adopts a similar approach – you’ll learn the skills the recognise and respond to someone experience a mental health problem or mental health crisis, until professional help is received or the crisis is resolved.
Individuals who complete the training become MHFAiders, equipped with the skills to listen, connect and offer support when it matters most, and play a vital role in reducing stigma and promoting pathways to support for those experiencing mental health problems.
