Community-based learning
Community-based learning can boost people’s skills and confidence, leading to renewed interest and the ability to participate in formal education and training, volunteering, or work.
Adult Community Education supports people to progress their foundation skills and transition to vocational education and training or employment. Training is delivered in easy to access, community-based settings and may comprise of non-accredited training, accredited training, and micro-credentials.
Adult Community Education providers
Adult Community Education providers are community-based organisations or non-government training providers which are able to demonstrate that they have education and training as a key focus. They are located in communities across the state and provide low or no cost training in the development of foundation skills.
25 ACE projects offered in 2022-23
During 2022-23, ACE supported 25 projects across South Australia that:
- Created vocational education and training pathways for up to 1,800 students
- Supported engagement and ongoing connection through innovative, community‑based delivery approaches, which build learner pathways that support students to seamlessly transition from ACE to VET
Strong partnerships have been a key feature of successful projects
