Assessment masterclass for experienced practitioners

This masterclass is for experienced practitioners seeking to refresh and extend their understanding of the assessment process as it applies to nationally recognised training.

The masterclass is mapped to  TAEASS501 Provide advanced assessment practice, TAEDES504 Develop and implement recognition strategies, and some aspects from TAEASS503 Lead assessment validation. There is an option to achieve a Statement of Attainment for all or some units on a co-contribution basis.

This masterclass commences on 22 September 2021.

This masterclass is available to individuals currently delivering training in South Australia and/or to South Australian students who:

  • Hold a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, AND
  • Have experience in the design and development of print-based learning and assessment resources.

 Practitioners studying towards a Diploma are strongly encouraged to participate.

The masterclass will be delivered over four online sessions, and self-paced learning opportunities available in between sessions.

Online session 1
Wednesday 22 September

Masterclass launch and overview, including introduction to the SG Virtual Learning Centre (VLC) Sandpit.

Key topics include assessment as it underpins the VET sector, the role of senior assessment practitioners, supporting the assessment process, and personal goals for participation in the program.

Online session 2
Wednesday 6 October

Key topics include supporting the RPL assessment pathway and RPL interview and question types.  Participants will debrief VLC Topic 1 and be introduced to VLC Topic 2.

Online session 3
Wednesday 20 October

Key topics include supporting the validation process.  Participants will debrief VLC Topic 2 and be introduced to VLC Topic 3.

Online session 4
Wednesday 10 November

Participants will share their on job application outcomes. Overview of formal assessment requirements (including any RPL).

For those seeking assessment, assessment support webinars and two group coaching webinars will be available.

The masterclass will be delivered by Kathy Pillion, Director, SG Learning and Development.

Kathy brings more than 30 years’ experience as a facilitator and a human resources consultant to her role as Director at SG Learning and Development, and throughout her career has provided leadership development, career coaching and organisational change consultancy to a diverse client base.

Kathy has also worked extensively in the accredited training arena with a range of RTOs to design and deliver innovative and tailored Certificate IV and Diploma programs to support organisational succession planning practices in line with the Australian Quality Framework.

Blended Learning masterclass for new practitioners

This masterclass is for new practitioners seeking to build their skills in designing, developing and delivering online learning, and facilitating strong relationships with learners to help them succeed in an online learning environment..

Learning is mapped to TAEDEL503 Develop and design e-learning resources and there is an option to achieve a Statement of Attainment on a co-contribution basis.

The masterclass will run over 7 weeks and commences on Monday 1 November 2021.

This masterclass is available to individuals based in South Australia and/or delivering to South Australian students who:

  • Have recently completed the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (less than 12 months), OR
  • Are currently undertaking the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment and have completed more than 50 per cent.

The masterclass will commence with a face-to-face introductory workshop, three online sessions, and self-paced learning.

Face-to-face workshop, 9:30am-1:00pm on Monday 1 November

Masterclass launch and overview, including introduction to the SG Learning Virtual Learning Centre (VLC) Sandpit.

This session will be held at ASC Training and Development, Level 2, 5 Leigh Street, Adelaide.

Online session 2, 9:30am-1:00pm on Monday 15 November

Key topics include eLearning technology and tools, and eLearning content options.

Online session 3, 9:30am-1:00pm on Wednesday 1 December

Key topics include scoping the eLearning resource, design considerations, and developing e-Learning resources.

Online session 4, 9:30am-1:00pm on Wednesday 15 December

Key topics include reviewing and trialling e-Learning resources and presentation of action learning projects.

There will also be an opportunity for participant reflections and sharing.

Support

Ongoing support and mentoring for participants as they complete action learning projects the masterclass.  ASC facilitators will be available for 1-1 coaching and support throughout the life of the program.

The Masterclass will be delivered by Peter Oborn from ASC Training and Development.

Peter is the lead facilitator for the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment and has specialised in delivering this qualification for over six years with ASC Training and Development. He is highly regarded by participants and clients alike, and his enthusiasm and energy are infectious.
