Professional development sessions for childcare trainees
Australian Child Care Career Options (ACCCO) developed a series of professional development sessions for trainees, teaching them skills that are not typically delivered in their qualification. The training sessions cover duties they are expected to perform in the workplace on completion of their traineeship. Trainees acquiring these skills will be trained to industry standards, in addition to the training package requirements, with the intention to increase the training contract completions.
Blended learning programs for maritime training
Australian Maritime and Fisheries Academy (AMFA) developed blended learning programs to deliver training and assessment in the workplace. The new delivery method has been created for the Certificate II and Certificate III in Maritime Operations and is expected to contribute to growing training contract commencements.
E-learning for regional civil construction supervisors
Civil Contractors Federation SA (CCFSA) developed an e-learning module for existing and aspiring civil construction supervisors in regional areas. The module encourages participants to enrol in the Certificate IV in Civil Construction traineeship. The new module will contribute to the increase of training contract commencements.
Online learning tool to support personal skills development
Plumbing Electrical Electronic and Refrigeration Vocational Education Employment and Training (PEER VEET) developed and trialled a new online learning tool, the Inventorium, used to broaden and strengthen students’ personal skills development. The innovative online learning platform aims to build students’ skills in the workplace through project-based, enquiry-led learning, and contribute to increasing training contract completions.
Masterclass videos for Electrotechnology Electrician apprentices
Plumbing Electrical Electronic and Refrigeration Vocational Education Employment and Training (PEER VEET) developed and produced 20 masterclass videos for apprentices undertaking the Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician. The videos focus on components of the qualification that students need the most help with. Access to this learning content enables apprentices improve their knowledge and understanding of the subject, complete the course successfully and contribute to the increase in training contract completions
Regional Skills Training (RST) developed an ePortfolio platform to store student and employee employment evidence activities, like videos, photos, resumés, job descriptions and certificates of training. The ePortfolio is an online tool for students, educators and employers that allows easy access to a library of required evidence.
Virtual Reality learning and assessment tool
Regional Skills Training (RST) developed a new learning and assessment tool called ‘Safely spraying a paddock VR farm experience’. This virtual and auditory reality training tool simulates a work health and safety scenario for students enrolled in agricultural qualifications and prevents exposing students to at-risk work placement events.

Trade skills for heritage projects
Flexible Construction Training and Assessment – Building Careers (FCTA-Building Careers) developed a new qualification to train students in the hand skills required to work on heritage projects. The new qualification, once approved by ASQA, will help address attrition of the ageing workforce, attract younger entrants, and connect training with industry needs and traditional heritage trade skills.
VET course concepts for learning and teaching Aboriginal languages
Tauondi Aboriginal College prepared VET Course Concepts for two accredited courses, Certificate II and III in learning an Aboriginal language and Certificate IV in teaching an Aboriginal language. Both VET course concepts have been approved by ASQA, and Tauondi is now working on applications to have these two courses accredited by ASQA to preserve opportunities for learning and teaching Aboriginal languages.

Research on increasing rail infrastructure workforce
Civil Contractors Federation SA (CCFSA) undertook research on potential delivery of Certificate II in Rail Infrastructure under traineeship arrangements by a South Australian based training provider. The research findings identified South Australian rail infrastructure workforce capability and capacity to deliver South Australian rail projects and made recommendations for the delivery of VET qualification relating to rail infrastructure in South Australia. The research focused on rail track workers, track maintainers and plant operators.
